SanDisk has expanded its Optimus gaming SSD portfolio with two new models: the Optimus GX PRO 850P NVMe SSD tailored for PS5 consoles and the Optimus GX 7100X NVMe SSD for ROG Xbox Ally X and PCs. The brand has also made additional Optimus series drives commercially available.
SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 850P NVMe SSD
Officially licensed and fully certified for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, the GX PRO 850P features a PlayStation-branded integrated heatsink engineered for the PS5 M.2 slot, eliminating the need for aftermarket cooling solutions.
As modern game installs, updates and DLC rapidly consume console storage, this high-capacity SSD allows users to maintain extensive local game libraries without frequent deletions. Offered in capacities up to 8TB, it supports direct game execution from the drive, serving as a full-performance storage expansion rather than cold archive storage.
Powered by PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe technology, the drive delivers sequential speeds up to 7,300MB/s read and 6,600MB/s write, varying by capacity. The 1TB variant reaches 7,300MB/s sequential read and 6,300MB/s sequential write, alongside 800K random read IOPS and 1.1M random write IOPS. It boasts 600TBW endurance and a five-year limited warranty.Primarily built for PS5 upgrades, the 850P also supports PCs with M.2 M-key 2280 slots running Windows 10 or later systems.
SanDisk Optimus GX 7100X NVMe SSD
Officially licensed for ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X and PC platforms, the Optimus GX 7100X serves as a portable gaming storage upgrade. With up to 4TB capacity, it accommodates abundant Xbox games, updates, DLC and Game Pass content to reduce storage management workloads, and includes a one-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial.
Adopting PCIe 4.0 NVMe interface, the 2TB model achieves up to 7,250MB/s sequential read and 6,900MB/s sequential write speeds, with 1M random read IOPS and 1.4M random write IOPS. This M.2 2280 drive measures 3.15 x 0.87 x 0.09 inches and comes with a five-year limited warranty.
Optimized for low power consumption, the 7100X preserves battery life for handheld gaming devices. It utilizes SanDisk’s 8th-generation BiCS TLC 3D CBA NAND and undergoes rigorous testing for handheld Xbox and PC gaming scenarios.
